Guiding Ethical Innovation for a Regenerative Future

The OZEAON Foundation is the ethical and strategic layer of the OZEAON ecosystem. It ensures that all activities — from education to tokenomics — align with regenerative principles, global sustainability frameworks, and interdisciplinary innovation.

Our Role

The Foundation acts as a steward of OZEAON's mission, overseeing governance, ethics, and long-term vision. By integrating science, design, art, technology, and community knowledge, we create a framework for sustainable impact across ocean and land systems.

As the ethical and strategic heart of the OZEAON ecosystem, the Foundation ensures that all activities — from education and open science to tokenomics, AI, and project funding — align with regenerative values, transparency, and the principles of the UN Ocean Decade and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Functioning as the non-profit arm of the platform, it safeguards OZEAON's integrity through ethical oversight, multidisciplinary integration, and the equitable distribution of grant funding. The Foundation guides the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) to uphold accountability and inclusivity, ensuring that user-driven governance and decision-making serve both people and planet.

Beyond governance, the Foundation cultivates transdisciplinary collaboration across ocean-climate science, health and biotechnology, design and biomaterials, education, economy, and culture. It supports open science, Decentralized Science (DeSci), and global knowledge sharing through Open Educational Resources (OERs) built on FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles.

Ultimately, the OZEAON Foundation aims to become an institution for regenerative and sustainable innovation—uniting scientific research, creative design, and cultural practice to foster real-world transformation, ethical technological development, and planetary wellbeing.

Ethical and Strategic Oversight

The OZEAON Foundation acts as the non-profit arm of the platform, safeguarding the project's mission of openness, inclusivity, and collaboration. It ensures that educational, scientific, and financial systems within OZEAON are developed ethically and equitably, consistent with Ocean Decade endorsement criteria and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • Upholds the values of regenerative and circular design
  • Ensures compliance with AI ethics, data protection, and governance standards
  • Guides responsible innovation and platform transparency

Transdisciplinary Integration

The Foundation integrates diverse domains of science, design, and innovation to drive interdisciplinary collaboration across:

Ocean–climate science
Health and biotechnology
Design and biomaterials
Education and open knowledge
Economy and industry
Social empowerment and governance

Its ultimate aim is to evolve into an institution for transdisciplinary discovery and research, bridging the arts, sciences, and technology.

Governance and Oversight of the DAO

The Foundation provides directional and ethical guidance to the OZEAON DAO, which democratically governs the platform using Progress (non-transferable) and $OZEAON (tradeable) tokens.

  • Oversees DAO operations to ensure decisions serve the public good
  • Ensures that platform functions align with sustainability ethics
  • Acts as a guardian of collective intelligence and fair governance

Funding, Grants, and Partnerships

The Foundation functions as the grant-distribution and partnership hub for the ecosystem:

  • Acquires and allocates grant funding (EU, UN, and philanthropic sources)
  • Supports projects, educational programs, and scientific collaborations aligned with regenerative goals
  • Connects researchers, innovators, and investors across borders through multisectoral partnerships

Knowledge, Education, and Public Engagement

Through its integration with the OZEAON platform, the Foundation fosters global knowledge sharing via Open Educational Resources (OERs), Decentralized Science (DeSci), and community-driven learning.

  • Ensures open access to research following FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable)
  • Promotes education, tutorials, and media that translate complex science into accessible, engaging formats
  • Facilitates capacity building and citizen science engagement

Integration Across Fields

The Foundation brings together diverse domains to accelerate innovation where they intersect.

Regulations & Warnings

AI & Digital Ethics

Culture & Communication

Oversight & Governance

The OZEAON Foundation provides an oversight layer to the DAO, ensuring decisions align with regenerative values and ethical guidelines. While projects are independently initiated by creators, the Foundation safeguards long-term direction, manages platform reserves, and upholds accountability.

Key Points

  • Independent oversight from core DAO operations
  • Ensures transparency in project funding & IP-NFT acquisitions
  • Prioritizes alignment with the UN SDGs & Ocean Decade goals

Grant Stewardship

The Foundation manages external grant funding streams, ensuring transparent allocation to projects aligned with SDGs, Ocean Decade goals, and regenerative outcomes.

AI Centre of Excellence

At the heart of the Foundation is the Cross-Functional AI Operations Center of Excellence (CoE). It ensures all AI systems across OZEAON uphold transparency, inclusivity, scientific rigour, and climate justice.

Core Functions

AI Strategy for Climate & Regeneration Goals
Open Science Integration & Knowledge Graph Modelling
Tooling for DAO Governance, Voting & Reputation Systems
Explainability in Project Evaluation, IP Curation, and Funding
Ethics Layer: Bias auditing and decision traceability
Support for Digital MRV and Tokenomics Simulations
